In 2017 I was commissioned by Get Lost & Found and Moomins™ to make puppets of the beloved Tove Jansson characters. The show premiered at the Southbank Imagine Festival, has had residencies at Kew Gardens and Arts Depot and is touring throughout 2019. The production is an original story (Mischief & Mystery in Moominvalley), written by Emma Edwards and Sophie Powell, with music by Toby Park and includes Moomintroll, Thingummy & Bob, Snufkin and of course, Little My. The characters are brought to life as both table-top rod puppets and two-dimensional, illustrated versions of themselves. As part of this production I was also commissioned to make the set and props for the show, the centre-piece of which is a giant pop-up book. We were privileged enough to work alongside Sophia Jansson (Tove Jansson's niece) on this project, ensuring all components to the show were true to the original illustrations.
