'BIRD' - a family-friendly outdoor show from Forward Theatre Project

Trailer for Forward Theatre Project's show 'BIRD' - a new piece of family-friendly outdoor theatre about flight, freedom and the relationship between humankind and nature. A lonely young boy makes friends with a fledgeling bird, and his eyes are opened to the natural world around him. Featuring storytelling, puppetry and live music, this is a feast for all the senses – an unusual and heartwarming modern fable. On an outdoor stage with the sky as its limit, we tell a story to appeal to adults and children alike – about friendship, growing up, and the joys of the imagination. ‘BIRD’ is created by playwrights Nikki Williams and Ben Ellis, director Amelia Bird, designer Lydia Denno, and puppeteer Annie Brooks. "With a charming selection of bird puppets, ... a delightful puppeteer and perfect accompaniment from the live clarinet and accordionist this show is a delight for all ages, all children were enthralled.’" - Arts Award Voice Footage is from the show's first performances at Latitude Festival in summer 2014. 'BIRD' is now embarking on a further festivals tour in summer 2015. For more info contact corinnesalisbury@live.co.uk www.forwardtheatreproject.co.uk

Mischief and Mystery in Moominvalley at The Old Market

Fri 22 Dec 2017 - Tue 2 Jan 2018 http://theoldmarket.com/shows/mischief-and-mystery-in-moomin-valley/ Discover the world of the Moomins where anything is possible... Be sure to pack your imagination and join us on an unforgettable journey to Moominvalley where everyone is welcome, nature thrives and adventures are plentiful. Magical puppetry, an ingenious pop-up book set, original music and interactive storytelling combine to create a wintry treat that will delight young audiences aged 3 - 7. Based on the much-loved novels by Tove Jansson, this gentle heart-warming show tells the story of a year in Moominvalley. Moomintroll wakes up in the middle of winter with a “something-wrong-feeling”. There’s no sign of his good friend Snufkin, or the note Snufkin left him. As winter turns to Spring Snufkin returns, the days lengthen into a lazy summer and “the sea brings them all the adventures they could wish for.” Currently the only official Moomins show in the UK, Get Lost & Found's Mischief and Mystery in Moominvalley has already enjoyed sell-out runs at Southbank Centre and Kew Gardens. Don't miss its Sussex debut at The Old Market this holiday season. Expect snow, surprises and plenty of Moomin mischief!

Leaper; A Fish Tale - Production Trailer Spring 2016

Something fishy’s going on! Although it sounds like a tale from a children’s story, the reality is that fish are starting to disappear from our rivers and seas. Why? And how can one little girl help stop it? Leaper: A Fish Tale follows one fish's magical quest against the ever-growing natural and man-made monsters in our seas. Using their signature blend of beautiful puppetry and mesmeric music, Tucked In explore the colourful and breathtaking world beneath the water’s surface. Following Sam Rose in the Shadows, The Golden Cowpat and Tim & Light, this promises to be Tucked In’s most ambitious show yet. Supported by Arts Council England, National Aquarium Ltd, Sea Changers and the Unity Theatre Trust. 'Tucked In are blessed with a fresh new vision' The Stage ‘Masters of enchanting story-telling’ The Skinny 'There is a spirit of magic and adventure in Tucked In's work that is intoxicating. I was bewitched, as was my four year old.' Simon Stephens, Playwright www.leapertheplay.com Film by Jack Shanks

A short trailer for Fish Pie - a theatre show with puppets from Colossal Crumbs. Meet Cuthbert. He's a fish. He spends his days by himself... ...waiting... ...just waiting... Welcome to the dingy, depressing life of Cuthbert, a lonely fish living in a dank corner of a completely dissatisfactory room in pond suburbia. One day Cuthbert is unceremoniously removed from his home, does it signal hope for this lonely chap or is his life on a continuing downward spiral? Meet the artist Ludwig (he's a prawn) who's currently making his biggest masterpiece and join Myrtle (sea cucumber) in her one woman crusade to save gherkins across the world - cucumbers are people too! Colossal Crumbs invite you to a visual feast of folly and three tales of the unexpected - merging puppetry and film all encompassed within the setting of a 1920s silent film. The show is narrated with subtitles, music and an alluring French man.
