Colossal Crumbs news

Colossal Crumbs has been selected to be reshown in the private view evening on 5th June, 9.30pm.

The show will take place at the Grand Parade building, University of Brighton.

Escape into a world that is obscure and intriguing, that offers smallness in abundance and giant excrescences on a playground for puppets. Gorge on minute details and engage with gargantuan flesh. Enter a world that is more precise and more meticulously elucidated than our own.

A fascination with fat, fruit, flesh and wobbly body parts has continually led me to create work about consumption, body image and gender. This, alongside an adoration of puppets, has culminated in a bizarre array of intriguing, genderless, anthropomorphic beings - and a vast amount of fat and flesh. Together, they create a sculptural set that arouses our sense of wonder, humour and play to alter our perception of the world. The set performs continual transformations – from the beautiful to the foul, which is where the heart of the piece lies. I am allowing the audience to simply enjoy the visual imagery and watch the landscapes unfold. With the use of live puppetry and performance, set, and gingerbread, using a variety of texture and playing with scale, we can explore themes from an enchanting and playful perspective.
